LOSTCAPS Project Case Study

From Reference Design to an Approved Running Cap Sample

A custom running cap sample for a buyer in France, developed through style comparison, logo placement checks and customer approval of the finished sample photos.

What the sample approval covers

This record documents one custom sample and approval of its appearance from photographs. It records the cap-style comparison, proportional front-logo sizing and the rear-logo position above the opening.

Photo approval, physical wear testing and bulk production approval are separate decisions. Before repeating this construction, check fit, brim behavior, closure comfort, decoration and any required material or performance evidence on the actual sample.

The challenge

A customer in France approached LOSTCAPS with a running-cap concept and a potential first order of 50–100 pieces. They wanted a branded sample to review before deciding on bulk production. The brief focused on lightweight comfort, ventilation and clean branding. The perforated side panels presented a practical challenge for the small secondary logo, so the decoration method and position needed to be reviewed alongside the choice of cap style.

Our solution

During development, we compared two cap styles, reviewed white and beige options through actual product photos, and clarified how each construction would affect logo placement. After reviewing alternative applications and positions, the customer selected a white Style 5027 cap with the smaller logo placed above the rear opening. The agreed decoration used a thin, flat, matte heat-transfer finish: pink branding on the front and a small black logo at the back. Custom interior printing and separate woven labels were removed from the brief. Before production, we showed proportional logo layouts on an actual cap. The customer compared front-logo heights of 4 cm and 4.5 cm, choosing the more balanced 4 cm version.

The result

The white Style 5027 sample was completed, and we shared front, side and rear photographs. The customer approved its appearance from the photos and asked about dispatch. At the point covered by this case study, the project had reached sample photo approval, with shipment being arranged. Physical wear testing and the bulk-order decision remained subsequent steps.
